  1. That stuff burned my knee and lower leg and made my whole body burn too. My doctor said it wasn't synvisc's fault, but I know it was. It started with that shot and hasn't stopped messing with my body since. I get so tired all of the time. I wasn't like that before I got the shots. I wish I'd never heard of the stuff but thanks for posting this information any ways.

  2. Sorry to hear about your experience. As you can see you're not alone. Did you contact the company? Were they of any help?

  3. I called them. They just said how do i know its because of the shots. I told them it began with them and they said it was not normal or something like that and i told them i also started breathing heavy and I'd never done that before the shots neither. The fda didn't have much help to give me neither.

  4. immediately after the first of three shots to both knees ihad pain in my lung a stabbing pain it was brief and wentaway however ditto for the second shots-the third shots the pian continued about 24 hrs later i coughed and felt somethig spread in my lung coughed again and and something came up however i accidently swallowed it i told the dr and he said he would report it to the co. shortly after my inner thighs burnt as if i were in hell then they would itch so bad it nearly drove me mad and these 2 things kept repeating itself but there was nothing there to see so i delayed going to the dr. when i did she was mystified and gave me steroid cream which helped a bit, i complained and maintained it had 2 be the synvisc. it continued until the day i woke up and had horrible blotches where i was having the thigh problem i got biopsied as it spread they in the end gave it a probable long name and said it would either go away get worse or whatever but that it would itch-they were wrong it HURTS and its hard to wear underwear the steroid cream only helps a bit. then the blotches got a bit better but its been over a year and i still have it-about three mths after the injections i was in emergency after being unable to wake up for 2 days its still unknown what caused it but i know-synvisc-i'm tired all the time yet can't sleep. then i developed hyperparathyroidism and kidney probs etc!! DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG IT RUINED MY LIFE~!!!!

  5. I recently finished my third shot of synvisc. I have been having cold hands and feet and a tingling feeling in my face. I talked to the dr and they told me it didn't sound like a side effect of synvisc. I called the company and they said no one reported anything like this. Has anyone had these symptoms? If so how long has it been going on?

  6. This type of side-effect HAS BEEN reported to Genzyme! I've discovered that they will deny any systemic side-effect as not related...only those related to the knee joint. Especially since this is classified as a "medical device" which techically should not cause a chemical reaction or require metabolism...a WHOLE other issue with this poorly classified pharmaceutical product.

It's really hard to say how long this will last for you as each person's body chemistry and metabolism are different.

How long have you experienced this???? Are you experiencing any other symptoms?

  7. I received my last shot about 10 days ago. I started having cold feet within 2 days of my first shot and tingling in my face after 4 days. No other symptoms yet. What exactly is Genzyme? Any suggestions?

  8. Genzyme is the company who makes Synvisc.

Do you still have a tingling face and cold feet?

First off...I am not a doctor. BUT as someone who has researched this and lived through a life-threatening chemical injury from this injection. I would HIGHLY recommend seeking a physician who will give you IV chelation to pull this toxic injection out of your bloodstream as soon as possible. It's been a very effective treatment for my situation along with the ionic footbath detox. You should go to the website www.asyra.com and call them to see if there is a physcian in your area who is using this homepathic modality. It has helped to expedite my detox and healing from this. I've also been assisted through a treatment called NAET. More information and treating physicians can be found at www.naet.com

Others have had help in detox through Infrared saunas.

ANYthing that you can do to get this out of your system is a step in the right direction. I'm still dealing with the aftermath 2 years later, but these treatments have all worked together to help me work toward restored health.

Do keep in touch and let me know how you're doing!!!! Please! YOU are not alone.

  11. I had the synvisc one injection on July 31st, 2009. I did this after arthroscopic surgery on my left knee for arthritis. The operation was in March, 2009, and I was doing good, but not great. I could walk for about 4 hours and then had to rest. My doctor suggested getting this shot in both knees. I had the injections in the morning and went to work, with his consent, that afternoon. Within 4 hours of the injection, both knees had swollen to over three times their regular size. I was advised to put my legs up and if I was still having problems, come in on Monday. That was the last day I worked. I lost my job, gained weight, went on welfare and am now living in an apartment my mom is paying for (I am 41 and have only asked my parents for help one time, after a car accident, since I turned 18). My knees are SHOT!!! I cannot walk without the aid of a wheeled walker. I have sever swelling of the knees, calves and ankles of both legs. I have some short term memory loss. I am on anti-depressants due to a severe depressive episode brought on as a result of my reaction to the injections. I put on over 125 pounds after my incident. I am now trying to lose weight so I can get gastric bypass surgery and knees braces. I am too young to have knee replacements, so they tell me. I think I'm too young to be living without them!!!!!!!

  12. Jesse, I am so sorry to hear of this. You are not the first and sadly, will not be the last until the FDA has the integrity to pull this off the market. Too many people's reactions go unreported because of the lack of character from many who make money off this poison. I would HIGHLY recommend searching for an ozone doctor in your area. I have met so many people who canceled knee replacement surgery after a series of ozone injections. It's safe and natural and stimulates regrowth of cartilage.

Toxins make losing weight really difficult. I would work to reduce your toxic load by eating organic, eliminating anything artificial in your diet and in your household. Use only natural cleaners, cosmetics, etc. That reduction will make a big difference in how your body metabolizes. I'd also look into getting an ionic footbath detox system to help pull the toxins out of your body and reduce the swelling in your joints. Many people sell reasonably priced units on ebay.

This doctor is listed on the Ozone Therapy page as one who trained under Dr Shallenberger. It's worth the travel to get your knees and health back. To get your LIFE back.

  13. Thank you for the reply!!!!!!!!!!

My current general practitioner basically dismissed any connection to synvisc with my current condition after six months of the injection. I was referred to a different gp by a friend of mine. I met this new gp this last week, but I went in unprepared. I mentioned the connection between formaldehyde and fowl to syvisc. He pulled the sheet from a synvisc box and went over everything in there with me. Of course, it all sounds so innocent in there!!! He seems open to the idea though. He is aware of chemical poisoning and reactions. He will not use a certain lawn treatment because it contains the same ingredients as agent orange!!! He has a more holistic approach to medicine.

Anyway, I came home and started researching. Most sites are like 32 pages of single spaced medical jargon that made little sense to me. I am no idiot, but the language, length and clinical names was too much for me to make sense of. I gave up for a few days and then got motivated to get to the bottom of it. I knew, from your site and others, that it had to do with the process by which hylan-a and -b were made. It was only when I clicked on your hylan-a description, and was directed to the WIPO site, that it made sense. The description there of the process is straight forward!!! I printed it off, highlighted the pertinent parts and am going to mail it to my NEW gp on Monday morning. Another point was that he was talking about the solution being prepared with eggs, but that is not the case. It is the rooster combs that are used!!!

As for detoxifying, I agree. I know a good alternative health center in a town close by me. I went there before for chiropractic care after a car accident. They have several different holistic health practitioners there. All of them care very much and are personable yet professional. I know they will help me detoxify my body and life.

I will DEFINITELY look more into the Ozone Therapy and the doctor you have listed in your reply to me.

Thank you for your help and I will continue to be in touch.

  14. The list that the GP read from does seem innocent... because they leave out formaldehyde and divinyl sulfone!!! Informed consent doesn't exist when agreeing to this injection UNLESS they disclose this information too. BUT alas, no one in authority really cares about the patient. All about the money!

    Press on, girl!

  15. Synvisc should be taken off the market. IMO, something is wrong with Synvisc. Ten years ago I received a series of three Synvisc shots to my right knee. I had no adverse effect. My new Orthopedic Surgeon encouraged me to receive a series of Synvisc for my right knee. A day after the first shot, I became ill and was in constant pain. It was bad I was unable to walk on my own. I had to start using crutches, which I had not used since my last knee surgery eight years prior.

I went in for my appointment a week later. I explained to the nurse and doctor what I had experienced. I told both of them I do NOT want anymore Synvisc shot. The doctor claimed it was not the Synvisc, encouraged me to receive the second shot, and the pain was from my back not because of the Synvisc. He injected my knee. I came home and went to bed, within two hours I woke up with excrutiating pain. My right leg felt like a block of ice. I screamed for someone to help me, and my Husband came to my aid. He called the doctor and told him he was taking me to the ER. He said for him to bring me to his office. I have never felt this much pain in my life. Even with the thirteen surgeries I had.. The doctor extracted 49 cc of fluid from my right knee. My knee was swollen twice the size. He said I had an allergic reaction to Synvisc.

It has been six weeks,I cannot walk without the aid of a cane or crutches. My left knee I never had problem with it. I am now having problems after receiving Synvisc. I have constant headaches, nausea, constant coughing, confusion, crying spells, etc. I am in worse shape since I received the Synvisc. Sure, I had minor knee pain and two knee surgeries. My knee is ten times worse, since I received the Synvisc.

I am sorry that I made the decision to receive this toxic medication. My quality of life is diminished, and I am 56 years old. I urge everyone NOT to agree to be injected with Synvisc. The FDA or people with authority will not listen to us. The manufacturer of Synvisc do not care about us. This drug should be taken off the market ASAP.

My doctor billed my insurance for two visits for that day. I am now left with complications from Synvisc, and a huge medial bill. Because, my insurance refused to pay for the second visit.

  16. I started my sinvisc shots on Feb. 15,2013 in both knees.
I broke out in a rash on one leg on the theigh and side of the knee. This was not at the needle sight. I then was directed to take benidrile and use cortizone cream.
got the second shot on Feb. 22nd and got a rash on the other leg too. I went to my family doctor and recieved a perscription for prenisone six day
supply. I got no relief and continued taking benidrill and using cream. I canceled my third shot. Went to skin dr. as orthapedic dr.
suggested it might not be a reaction to Sinvisc. She felt it was a allergic reaction to something. She gave me a new cream and I am still taking benedrill and putting on cream.
Still very itchy and have a lovely red rash.
I have not seen any reactions such as mine. This I guess is minor to what I have read about.
It is over a month and I am still itchy but I guess lucky looking at what could have happened.
